Why didn’t you make me do this years ago!?

Still stuck at the talking stage with your new online system? Well fret not, you are definitely not the only one; timing can be difficult, it seems like there is never an ideal moment to begin switching everything to a better workflow and sales solution, and before you know it you are already 3 weeks deep into the season and any thought of switching is quickly eclipsed by the million-and-one other things needing done. You aren’t the only one who has delayed getting stuck in with the UK’s #1 platform for volume photographers!

I recently caught up with David, the owner of Purple Cow Photography. We first met back in 2017 at The Photography Show, but it wasn’t until Autumn 2025 that David decided to test out GotPhoto and see what the system is made of! Having just finished up with his first season of jobs, I decided to put him on  the spot and get some much anticipated feedback…had he made a grave mistake as he had feared at the back of his mind?

Thankfully, I am happy to report that doesn’t seem to be the case at all. He noted that he has “exceeded last year’s turnover and my average spend and transactions are up as well, which is brilliant, definitely a positive.”

When I asked what might be the reason for the uptick, one thing really stood out; “the easy contact with the parents and not having to think about sending messages out has been the key”.

Obviously there are challenges with learning a new system while managing the usual mountain of tasks that portrait season throws our way. But David has been pleasantly surprised “I found the software side quite user friendly and a lot better than I was expecting”. The ability to handle the inhouse production workflow has also been “brill”! As David explains, “the production is very logical and automated, after the first couple of jobs I had it running smoothly, I think it’s brilliant.”

Overall a surprisingly simple, reassuringly lucrative and successful first go, we will leave you with this closing remark from David to think about; “why didn’t you make me do this years ago!?”

– if this sounds like a familiar story, then why not make 2026 the year you test the system and put the curiosity to bed. You might even drastically improve your business in the process.
