Content protection is one of the most talked-about topics in volume photography right now, and for good reason.

Photographers care deeply about protecting their work, their revenue, and the experience they offer their customers. At the same time, no single tool can fully prevent image theft online, especially as technology keeps changing.

That’s why we’ve always taken a layered approach: cutting down on misuse in practical ways while keeping the buying experience smooth and built to convert.

Today, we’re excited to share the next step in that strategy.

SnapShield Joins GotPhoto’s Online Shop

SnapShield* (US based) is now available as an optional integration inside GotPhoto’s New Shop in the UK, giving photographers a more advanced way to protect their galleries from screenshots and unauthorised sharing.

If you haven’t seen SnapShield in action before, here’s the short version: it deters screenshot attempts, logs every one of them, and gives you the data and evidence to back it up.

*Requires subscription direct from Snapshield US$19 / mth (approx 15 quid)

What’s Inside SnapShield

A few of the features photographers get with SnapShield:

  • Desktop protection modes: Choose between Blur Mode or Blackout Mode to control what shows up if someone tries to screenshot your gallery.
  • Mobile blur protection: Half of the image stays blurred, and the protected half switches as users toggle visibility, making mobile screenshots much harder to pull off cleanly.
  • Event logging: Track every screenshot attempt with timestamps, device info, IP addresses, and session details.

Different Photographers, Different Needs

Over the last few months, one thing has become very clear: photographers want choice.

Some want simple, built-in protection that works out of the box. Others want advanced tracking, evidence, and customisation. And many want the freedom to decide what works best for their business and adjust as their needs change.

All of those perspectives are valid.

That’s why GotPhoto’s newest online shop now gives you choices to handle content protection:

  • Native screenshot protection. Our built-in option is fully integrated into the desktop version of our newest online shop with no extra setup or cost. It was designed specifically for the GotPhoto shopping experience, and it keeps growing alongside the platform.
  • Consent form popups: You can now turn on consent popups inside the native experience for added transparency with your customers.
  • Right-click protection: Right-click is disabled on the desktop.
  • SnapShield. An advanced alternative with the deeper tracking and evidence features above.

You pick what fits your workflow, your customers, and your goals. No more one-size-fits-all.

Our Perspective Hasn’t Changed

We’ll keep being upfront about the realities of image protection online:

  • There is no “perfect” protection
  • Technology and misuse methods keep changing fast
  • Aggressive protection can hurt customer experience and sales
  • Protection works best when it’s layered

Our goal isn’t to promise magic solutions. It’s to help photographers protect their work and their revenue in practical, scalable ways.

This launch is another important step in that direction.
